31st December

“What are your plans for this new year”,  Aditi messaged

“Nothing much. Alone at home.”

“ohhh..That is sad. Why don’t you join us for the party?” She reverted back.

“I can’t leave home. Why don’t you come over at my place, we will have fun?”

“Ahh..I would love to. But, sweety, I already have plans.”

This was the conversation; I had with my friend on 31st Jan 2015.

As her last message popped, I laughed hard on the irony that I actually thought she would accompany me. I don’t know why, but I was piqued by her behavior and subsequently decided to switch off my cell.

To overcome isolation, I decided to pamper my stomach with a handmade chocolate cake. This is what I do in leisure. What else can you expect from a foodie?

I arranged the required ingredients and played loud music to avoid boredom. Around 11.30, I was done with the cake. Clad in my payjama and T-shirt, I made my way to the living area.

When I finally cut the cake and wished myself the Happy New Year, I suddenly fell in love with myself. I realised, sometimes it is good to spend time alone. It is good to be in Solitude.

Amidst the friends and expectation, we somehow have forgotten to love ourselves. We are so busy celebrating the occasions and days that we have forgotten to celebrate ourselves. We have forgotten that we exist.

The last day of 2015 and 1st day of 2016 taught me to love myself.

I learned that no matter what, you need to love yourself before loving anyone. Because, in the end you have to be your own hero.
